Water Distribution SystemJanuary 20, 2026
The Public Works Department continues to investigate the potential issue(s) with the water distribution system and is working with an engineer to study the data and conduct tests. The problem is the Hampton’s Hill water tank, which is not filling overnight to the required levels. The Hampton’s Hill water tank is an important component in the water distribution system because it helps maintain pressures, particularly in the east end of the community.
Engineering advice suggests that air may be trapped in the line between Newbay Road and the TCH, restricting flow into the town and preventing the Hampton’s Hill water tank from refilling to required levels. There is also evidence of a small waterline leak, but the location has yet to be determined, despite extensive leak detection efforts. The Department is gathering additional data today that will be shared and discussed with the engineer.
While the investigation is ongoing and until residents are advised otherwise, the Department is requesting that all residents conserve water where possible.
Over the next two days, residents may notice water discolouration and/or low pressure due to tests on the water system, which will cause flow fluctuations.
